About Simplicity Pest Control's Bed Bugs Services

What Are Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs are little insects that feed primarily on human blood. They can grow to be the size of half your pinky nail, and are very visible to the human eye. Bed bugs are particularly difficult to get rid of for multiple reasons. One, they lay 5 to 7 eggs per day that will hatch in 2 to 3 weeks. So if you don't kill all of them, they come back quickly. And two, they can live for up to a year without feeding. They are nocturnal feeders, that hide near their food source, which is you. But, as an infestation grows they move into any crack and crevice they can find, including dressers, baseboards, clothing, stuffed animals, picture frames and other furniture etc.

If you feel you may have an infestation there are a few signs you can look for. Pull of all your bedding and start examining your sheets. A lot of times when bed bugs feed, they over eat and vomit up blood, creating small blood stains the size of a drop of water. Check under your mattress folds folds. Bed bugs like to congregate together. Look for frass (droppings, they are black and about about the size of a flake of pepper) eggs (tiny 1mm in length, pearly white and translucent, the shape of rice), casings (bed bugs molt and shed their exoskelotons), or live bugs. Don't go off of only having bites. There are many similar things that can be mistaken for bed bug bites such as; other insect bites, illnesses, allergic reactions, skin conditions etc. Carpet Beetle larvae are often mistaken for bed bugs because of their color, size, and the small hairs on their body can cause irritations that looks similar to bed bug bites. Just remember, bed bugs are insects. They have 6 legs, 3 body parts (head, abdomen, and thorax) and antennae. If the bug you are looking at does not have those characteristics, it is not a bed bug.

Our Process

We start with a thorough inspection of your property to determine how bad the infestation is, and how many rooms are infested.

The next step is to decide which service is best for you. It is important to strategize correctly, because like stated above, if we don't kill all of the bed bugs, they will come back.

With 12 years of experience we are confident in our ability to take care of any bed bug issue. For that reason we provide our customers with a 3 month warranty, tripling the industry standard of one month.

Our Services

  • Chemical Treatment
    • We have a wide range of chemicals at our disposal. All vary with different methods of killing the bugs, and to be used in different situations. With 12 years of experience we can provide you with a comprehensive strategy on which chemicals we'll use, the locations we'll use them, and why we think it will be the best option.
  • Heat Treatments
    • Bed bugs, and their eggs will be dead as soon as they reach 125 degrees. We make sure to get the infested area around 145 degrees and leave it their for hours. Letting the heat soak into the furniture, walls, and other areas.
    • Safety is our number one priority. For this reason, the home or unit we are treating needs to be vacated while we are heating. We remain at the property throughout the entire process (usually 6 to 10 hours) and check temperatures to be sure we are high enough to be efficient, but not too high to cause any cause any damage. In apartment buildings we take extra precautions to set off your fire sprinklers and flood your whole building. We have multiple tools to help protect the sprinklers, but also ensure they still function in case of a fire.
    • A heat treatment will always be accompanied by a chemical treatment after. Heat treatments are used when an infestation has grown to the point that we cannot expose enough bed bugs to chemical to successfully exterminate them. A bed bug heat treatment will kill off most, if not all of the bed bugs. BUT in the case there were a few hiding in a well insulated area, we leave behind a protective chemical barrier to be sure that they cannot re-establish.
